MAMo 2017 Awardee Gallery Exhibition

The PAʻI Foundation presents it's MAMo 2017 Awardees; Moana Eisley, Umi Kai, and Brook Parker; in a gallery exhibition at the ARTS at MARKS Garage in Honolulu's Chinatown arts district. These Native Hawaiian artists present their works that include kapa (Hawaiian barkcloth), nā mea kaua (things of war), and fine art.

Moana Eisley's devotion to making kapa has contributed to the reawakening of a valuable Hawaiian practice - highly prized in the past, cherished in the present.

Umi Kai is part of a small group of Native Hawaiian artists trying to perpetuate the craft of making tools and weapons that were once essential to survival.

Brook Parker's art portrays the deep love and admiration he has for his island ancestors. Brook is the first Native Hawaiian artist to be featured in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington D.C.
